Introduction.
Welcome to Al-Andalus.
The people behind this project entitled Back to Al-Ándalus are Margarita Ávila Rodríguez and María Contreras Minino, two students of the Master in Secondary Education at CEU. To carry it out, we have decided to focus on the 2nd course of Secondary Education. Regarding the content, as one is specialized in English and the other one in History and since we intend to include interdisciplinary methodology in this project, we have decided that all the historical context that we are going to work on here would be in English. This content focuses on the Muslim conquest, one of the topics that the children are going to study on this academic year. Within this, we are going to focus on three Spanish places of great importance for this historical moment, such as Seville, Granada and Córdoba.
The purpose of making a blog to teach students the content is mainly to motivate them to learn in a different way beyond the textbooks. Moreover, it would be useful to take advantage of the technology we have so that they learn by playing and, in this way, it is easier for them to retain everything they are going to work with. In addition, by working in English, apart from the historical content, the children will also learn vocabulary, the grammatical rules, as well as to gain fluency for the listenings, writings and orals of English.
